Main Inclusion Criteria
Patients:
Any patient 18 years of age having completed treatment from the IAPT service and discharged within the last 4 weeks is a potential study participant.
Patients
unable to read/Blind patients can still be participants if a friend or relative can read the postal information and PIFQ tool to them and enter responses.
IAPT services run using a 'stepped care' model and are seperate from acute care based mental health services.
Severe, unstable acutely unwell patients are immediately transferred from IAPT services to acute mental health services. As such no serioulsy unwell patients who might be distressed by receiving the invitation to participate in the research should receive an invitation.
Main Exclusion Criteria
Patients:
Patients who are unable to complete and understand the questionnaire in the English language will be excluded. The
PIFQ tool has only been validated in the English language so would be invalid for translation into different languages (cross cultural research is necessary rather than just translation).
The questionnaires contains information and concepts that must be understood to allow valid completion and therefore patients with significant learning disabilities would be unlikley to complete and return the tool.
Children are excluded from the study as again the PIFQ tool is not valid in this population.
